Ludger and Anne Kenny live at Seasons of Lake Scugog, Alliance Homes’ superb neighbourhood in Port Perry. “Everyone who walks in falls in love with our house,” says Anne Kenny about the Brighton bungalow. It was a great choice for the couple, with Ludger close to retiring from his career in commercial construction, and Anne working at a bank in Pickering. “I gave up my five-minute commute to work to move here,” she says, “but it’s worth it. Port Perry has it all – boating, fishing, golfing, even hunting. We’ve always liked this town.”
Anne says she and Ludger feel like two little kids about their home, which has a walkout basement, and “… turned out so much better than I expected. In my mind, 1,310 sq. ft. didn’t seem big, but it’s amazingly well designed and spacious.” In fact, the Kennys didn’t originally set out to buy a home; they thought they’d buy a trailer. Then they noticed an ad for Seasons of Lake Scugog in the paper. They took a look, bought the Brighton, then drove to Barrie to tour a completed one. “As soon as we walked in, we knew we’d made the right choice,” beams Anne.
The Kennys find the large entrance in their home welcoming, and they appreciate the handiness of their kitchen breakfast bar. “The eating area is so big, you can put two tables in there if you have a crowd for dinner,” says Anne. “We added a half wall with decorative columns between the kitchen and living room. The trim and finishes are done really well, and Alliance was nice about making the changes we wanted.”
Ludger says he’d definitely recommend Alliance Homes to anyone. “They were fantastic and explained everything really well. I work in construction, and I made several visits to the house when it was being built. I feel they did a great job, and the service has been fine. They have been good about taking care of the little things.”
“Everyone with Alliance has been so nice,” adds Anne, “from the Sales Office representatives to the construction and head office staff.”
Seasons of Lake Scugog and the Brighton suit Ludger and Anne perfectly. “We’re near the top of a hill,” Anne says, “and the first night we were here, there was a full moon. We opened some wine, turned out the lights, lit the fireplace and sat on the couch, and we could see out our window for miles. It was spectacular.”
Ludger adds, “We’re tickled to have this home. We both really love it!”
